Key criteria to support claim approval provided by Trip Mate



Trip Interruption: A traveler must leave the trip or be hospitalized if their trip is interrupted due to a medical reason. A traveler staying in their room and not participating in daily events does not allow their claim to qualify. 

Trip Interruption: A traveler must be examined and treated by a doctor prior to leaving the trip for a medical reason, unless it is not reasonably possible to do so.

Trip Delay: Among other reasons, a traveler must be delayed by the Common Carrier (airline, ship, train, etc.). Delays due to long security lines, arriving at the wrong gate, traffic, expired passports or any inconsistencies with their tickets or boarding passes will not qualify for an approved claim.
 

Trip Delay:

  •         Claims are not valid for premium seating or ticket upgrades not received due to airline rescheduling or a change in aircraft.
  •         Your delay must be for 12 consecutive hours or more for coverage to be in effect.
  •         Expenses must occur during the trip. Hotel or meal expenses prior to your trip or upon return do not qualify. You also must travel at least 50 miles from your primary residence for coverage to begin.

Baggage Delay & Personal Items:

  •         Lost or stolen items that are on our exclusion list will not be covered. Items not covered may include money, phones, electronics, hearing aids, sunglasses, etc. Please check the exclusion list on our plan document before submitting.
  •         For a baggage delay to qualify, it must occur during the trip before the traveler returns. Delays on return flights home do not qualify.

 

Accident & Sickness Medical Expense:

  •         Expenses must occur during the trip. Expenses prior to departure or after arrival home do not qualify.
  •         Please renew prescriptions prior to your trip. Prescriptions that run out or need to be refilled during a trip will not be covered.
