My (solo) trip to Italy was just wonderful. Yes, Italy is beautiful but I'm been to many beautiful places. What made this trip extra special were the people on the trip with me; and definitely our GCT Guide Pillar. She not only guided us through Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast, she made it a learning, as well as a food and wine, experience.

The trip was also over the Christmas holiday and Pillar took the time to make sure we had a wonderful day, even though most of Italy was at home having their own Christmas. If anyone is thinking that winter is a poor time to take a trip to Italy, think again. Our weather was wonderful, somewhat cold mornings and evenings, with sunny moderate temperatures during the majority of the day. We only had one day of on/off rain and that was the day we drove back to Rome. Florence and the major exhibits (Pompeii, museums, city tours, etc) were almost free of all tourist so Pillar or city guides could always give us much longer tours of the exibits and/or areas. We were the only bus at Pompeii and the only bus driving the the Amalfi Coast, so photo stops happened often. Since I'm not much on crowds, I found it delightful. This tour was my first time inn Italy and it definitely made me know that it will not be my last time in Italy.
