Grand Prize Winner

Heidi Hays, 2-time traveler
Austin, TX

This stunningly aligned and color-coordinated photo of a solitary bicycle was taken on our Impressions of Italy: The Amalfi Coast & Tuscany Tour.

Comments from the judges: This photographer uses repetition of shapes and color to present this still life shot in Tuscany. The piece utilizes the “rule of thirds”, drawing the eye up from the detail in the cobblestone up to the statues and the repetitious shape of the archway.

Steve Wolfe, First-time traveler
Lafayette, CA

This bird’s eye view of a rich landscape and our docked River Cruise ship was taken on our Eastern Europe to the Black Sea River Cruise.

Comments from the judges: Climbing up high to get a wide-eyed view of the scenery and our ship docked along the wavy shoreline, this photographer captures the relationship between land and water. The composition is strategically done, with the slope of the hill and the wavy shoreline moving the eye naturally to the ship.

Sandra Eger, 7-time Traveler
Martinez, CA

Idyllic and brightly illuminated, this picture of lake-side Lucerne was taken on our Romance of the Rhine & Mosel River Cruise.

Comments from the judges: Utilizing a low exposure in a nighttime setting makes this shot of Lucerne impressive and tastefully done. The lighting from the bridge creates a warm horizon line in an otherwise moody composition.

Honorable Mention

Nancy M Nelson, 41-time traveler
Greenwood, SC

This unique and winding photo that dramatically draws the eye was taken on our Romance of the Rhine & Mosel River Cruise.

Comments from the judges: One of the most abstract images we received, this spiraling staircase in Strasbourg mesmerizes the viewer with its unique perspective and attention to detail. The stark values and layers of shapes and lines pull the eye inward.
