Hello Everybody -

We continue to monitor the recent high water levels in Central Europe along the Danube, and Elbe rivers—including the impact they are having on this region and the Grand Circle vacations scheduled to depart in the coming weeks. Water levels continue to fall. Please be assured that our Boston headquarters is in constant communication with our regional offices in Central Europe, keeping your comfort and safety at the forefront.

We will make decisions on upcoming departures based on the latest information we receive from our regional offices. At present, we plan to operate all European River Cruises, but please note that this is subject to change based on developments in this region.

The June & July European River Cruise departures scheduled to operate include:

  • The Great Rivers of Europe: 7/3, 7/6, 7/18 departures
  • Essence of the Elbe: Berlin to Prague: 6/29, 7/6, 7/13 departures
  • Old World Prague & the Blue Danube: 7/5, 7/6, 7/11 departures

We are continuing to update our website regularly—please check back here for the latest information, and contact our World Events Line by calling us toll-free at 1-800-866-6568 if you have immediate questions about your departure.

Kind Regards,

You and GCCL are doing a much better job proactively informing travelers of the issues with the high water. I watch other web sites including Other cruise lines seem to be pretending that there is no problem, even after the passengers board, until they can't sail, and continue the charade, not informing the passengers of what is really going on. I won't mention any cruise line names here but, with the difficult conditions some companies are doing much better that others. If anycone would like to see the river cruise forum on cruise critic, click HERE.

There is also a great web site on river conditions and ships, It is a fantastic site compiled by a gentleman name ingo from Nuremburg. He frequently posts on Cruise Critic as ingo_e. He has information on the GCCL ships, but there are some hols, perhaps someone from GCCL could update him, on such items as draft and height above water line that he is missing for some on the ship, and other items that I might have missed an omission or error.
