We will be going on the Rhine & Mosel River Cruise in August and will do the Lake Lucerne post trip extension. How would you rate the three optional tours?

Best of Switzerland ($150.00),  Swiss Idyll ($95.00), Kline Scheidegg (165.00) per person.

None seem to go to the top of Mt Pilatus which is a must see. We want to have at least one day to explore on our own. Perhaps a boat ride on the lakes ferry system. Any advice is will be appreciated.....Thanks, Dave & Linda

We did the Lucerne extension in 2010 and we took all three of the optional tours. We did not go to Mt. Pilatus. Although we thought them to be rather expensive we did enjoy all of the optionals. I would rank Swiss Idyll #1, Kleine Shidig #2, and The Best of Switzerland #3. Were I to go again I would skip #3, probably in favor of going to Mt. Pilatus. But the cable car ride and the view from the top of Mt. Rigi, looking over Lake Lucerne, was about a spectacular as I could imagine.

Switzerland is spectacular -- expensive, but spectacular! Whatever you decide, go and have fun. You will not be disappointed.

We took the Rhine and the Mosel cruise twice with the Lucerne extension.  We did all the optionals both trips and enjoyed all of them.

This is a great trip.  The Mosel river is beautiful and is less commercial with barge traffic.

You are in for a real vacation.

Would be a better Extension if all meals were included.  Could pay in excess of $100.00 per day per person for lunch and dinner because it is so expensive.  Rooms were very average and the extension Tour Director did little or nothing to help us locate places to go.  She was very disorganized.  Told a number of people to leave their luggage in the luggage room and not go in to get the "carry ons" but we had to return to the Hotel because we were suppose to take them with us.  Could do everything we did with a 1 night stay.
