Having just returned from this trip, we want to express to fellow GCT travelers, TAKE THIS TRIP. Don't let fears of drug violence in Mexico stop you from the wonderful discoveries in this part of Mexico. Over the past three decades, we have traveled to Mexico seven times, three in the past four years. We saw and experienced things we did not on other trips - meeting Tarahumara and Mayo Indians, visiting Mormon and Mennonite communities, learning about the art and crafts of cultured pearls, creating jewelry from local semiprecious stones, and revival of ancient pottery. We sang, danced and played games. Loads of fun.
Violence is between the drug cartels in areas not visited by travelers. We felt as safe as in our other travels.
