How to Use the Forum

Our Travel Forum was created to make it easier to connect with other travelers, share your experiences, and post questions. Membership in the Travel Forum is included in your online account with us; click here to register or sign in. If you are new to the Travel Forum, you will need to confirm your email address before posting for the first time. We encourage you to read the guidelines below and dive in!

General Posting Guidelines

Look for the best place to post your question or response, and stay relevant

When you post in the most relevant "Discussion Area", you are more likely to get the responses you need. Please stick to the overall topic of travel when posting, and stay on topic when replying to an existing thread.

Be respectful

Use of inappropriate language, personal attacks, and hate speech are not permitted. Respect others’ opinions and suggestions. Our staff is unable to review every topic, reply, and profile, so please click on the ‘Report Abuse’ button if you see an inappropriate post.

Be Mindful of Privacy Issues

Please do not post the personal information of other members (full names, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, etc).

DON'T falsely represent yourself or your affiliation

Do not impersonate another person or entity and/or convey affiliation with any person or entity with which you have no authority to represent

We reserve the right to remove the following types of posts:

  • Content that is considered likely to disrupt, to provoke, to attack, or to offend others
  • Advertisements for products or services for profit or gain
  • Copyrighted materials with no reference to the original owner
  • Spam or duplicate posts
  • Posts that are off-topic

How to start a new thread

If you have perused existing conversations in the forum and have a question or topic for discussion that has not already been addressed, start a new thread.

  1. First, choose the most relevant topic for your thread. Topics include GCT Forum, Destinations, and GCT Community.
  2. Several Traveler Discussions are displayed under each topic. Click on any of them; this will bring you to the main page for that topic.
  3. Look through existing threads to see if your issue has been previously addressed.
  4. If your topic has not been addressed yet, find and click on the "Post a New Topic" button under the list of Traveler Discussions, in the lower right-hand portion of the screen.
  5. Fill in the Subject and Message fields.
  6. If you would like to review your post before it goes live, click "Preview."
  7. If you’d like to start over or abandon your post at any time, click "Cancel."
  8. When you’re ready to post, click the "Publish" button.
  9. Your new thread will appear at the top of the list of Traveler Discussions. If you would like to edit or delete your thread, locate it under the Traveler Discussions, click on your original post, and choose "» Edit" or "» Delete"
  10. Check back for replies to your thread regularly.

How to reply to an existing thread

If you have something helpful to contribute, or a question to ask, about an ongoing thread in the forum, join the conversation!

  1. First, make sure your question or comment has not been answered or addressed in previous posts.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the thread and click the "Post Reply" button.
  3. Type your question or comment in the "Message" field.
  4. If you would like to review your post before it goes live, click "Preview."
  5. If you’d like to start over or abandon your post at any time, click "Cancel."
  6. When you’re ready to post, click the "Publish" button.
  7. If you would like to change or remove your post after it has been published, find your post in the thread and locate the "» Edit" and "» Delete" buttons above the text.

How to complete your profile

Your forum posts will be more engaging and helpful if they include a nickname, profile photo, and some basic information about your traveling style—click here to complete your profile.
