A note from independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:
Photographer Giorgio Litt explores his own personal Sicilian heritage in this intimate short film. Giorgio reveals that Polizzi is his mother’s family town, that Palermo is his birthplace, and that the tiny, hillside village of Giacalone brings him back to his own summers. Giorgio presents Sicily candidly, unafraid to speak about imperfections, or display unglamorous scenes of abandoned spaces or untamed landscapes. Clearly, Giorgio’s love and pride are unconditional. “I thought I’d share a bit of home” he says at one point. That sentiment—sharing a special place that shaped his own life—is clear here.
