Rudy Maxa: France’s Normandy

Posted on 7/31/2018 12:00:00 AM in What We’re Watching

A note from independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:

The Seine River has long been a muse for creatives, as well as a site of commerce and combat. This film takes us to a sampling of the cities this water flows through, and explores the relationship of each place to the river. We visit Paris and Giverny, where rich art and architectural pasts provide visual inspiration for visitors. Near the coast, in Honfleur, we meet two different individuals with professions tied to the Seine: the owner of a nautical goods shop, and a contemporary impressionist painter. The river meets the sea in a beautiful and poignant location: the beaches of the D-Day Invasions.
