A note from independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:
This short film condenses a history of the Dead Sea Scrolls, a collection of ancient manuscripts from eleven Qumran Caves within the Judaean Desert. Discovered between 1947 and 1956, most of the recovered 800-some texts are fragmented and incomplete, but undoubtedly hold extreme religious, linguistic, and historical importance. In this short piece, you come to understand the enormity of these discoveries by seeing the intricacy of the Qumran Cave landscapes from above. How many more manuscripts remain hidden between rifts of limestone? What would they tell us?
