People of South East Asia

Posted on 7/18/2017 12:00:00 AM in What We’re Watching

A note from independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:

Filmmaker Janis Brod offers this heartfelt homage to the people of Southeast Asia. He travels through Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Thailand, and hones in on the faces of children at play, market vendors at momentary rest, fisherman pondering the open sea, monks in quiet procession. In every face, you see the spirit of the people: kind, resilient, open-hearted. Natural sound overlaps the music of Leon Felekyan, giving the film a pensive feel.
