New Zealand’s Hidden Seaside Gems

Posted on 10/17/2017 12:00:00 AM in What We’re Watching

A note from independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:

This CNN-produced short explores Dunedin, a seacoast city on New Zealand’s South Island. Dunedin is a delightful combination of accessible natural landscape and city artistry. Surfer and artist Simon Kaan brings walks us through his studio and explains how his art is influenced by the connection between land and ocean, which he has observed over a lifetime of surfing. Organic beer brewer Kelly Lindsay shows us how easy it is to balance an interest in art and nature: public galleries are mere miles away from expansive beaches. Margi Robertson, a fashion designer, has a deep appreciation for the evolving subcultures of the city, but is also grateful for the endurance of certain animal habitats found nearby, like the Royal Albatross Center. Dunedin is definitely a must for any New Zealand trip!
