Berlin: Europe's Creative Hub

Posted on 6/12/2018 12:00:00 AM in What We’re Watching

A note from independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:

This episode of CNNGo brings us to Berlin, Germany to explore creativity. Artist and writer Lukas Feireiss makes a point of saying that Berlin itself is not the most beautiful European city—it has a distinct post-war, industrial atmosphere. What makes the place beautiful and intriguing are the wildly innovative people that flock there and work to reinterpret some of these utilitarian spaces. One example of these phenomena can be found at “The Bunker” in Mitte. Originally an air-raid shelter constructed in 1940s, this building has been converted into a space for exhibiting contemporary art by the artist Christian Boros. I love seeing this convergence of old and new; antiquity and innovation.
