Earth Diaries: Indian Dance

Posted on 12/19/2017 12:00:00 AM in What We’re Watching

A note from independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:

I was impressed to learn that there are at least eight different forms of Rajasthani folk dance, each deeply nuanced, technical, and immensely entertaining to watch. This episode of Earth Diaries showcases a few of these dances and what makes them so special. Hand gestures are relied upon to tell a story, jewelry is worn to symbolize wealth, costumes enhance movements, and in one of the dances, the Bhavai Dance, large earthen pots and brass pitchers are balanced atop heads. Thrilling!

Produced by Cynthia Younker
