Chiloé Ando

Posted on 10/11/2016 2:27:00 PM in What We’re Watching

A note from independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:

This short film by Daniel Katanella shows the varied places and faces of Chiloe Island in Southern Chile. Katanella uses instrumental music to score the piece from beginning to end, but he also preserves and incorporates the sound from many of his shots, giving us a fuller sense of the scene before being whisked away to the next place. The soundscape includes seagulls flying overhead, water lapping against the shore, bells tolling, and ferries making their way to and from the island. His use of timelapse, hyperlapse, and photos give this the feel of an intimate collage.
