A note from independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:
Hong Kong is known for its relentless pace and bold cityscape. Its skyline boasts 303 skyscrapers and more than 7,000 high-rise buildings. It is home to the consulates of 115 countries—more than any other city in the world. With over 7 million residents, it is also home to the fourth most populated region in the world. What I love about this episode of CNNGo is the chance to see a softer, slower side of the city. We visit a Chinese doctor who prescribes herbs for all sorts of ailments. We visit a hole-in-the-wall café where people go to unwind. And we meet tattoo artist Joey Pang, who shows us a well-kept secret: a breakwater outside of Causeway Bay accessible only by boat taxi. “Hong Kong people are under a lot of pressure,” she says. “You can come here to savor the sea winds and sea water. You don’t need to go far to relax.”
