A note from independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:
I’m no golfer, but I definitely appreciate this Adventure Golf tour of Ireland from Pilot Guides. Host Ian Cross gives us a brief history of golf’s origins in Scotland and Ireland, then off we go to the Cliffs of Moher, where black slate and sandstone cliffs rise 700 feet from the ocean. We also learn about links fairways (the oldest style of golf course), built into the natural contours of the land. “There’s trouble at every turn,” one of Ian’s friends says, looking out at the course. Yes, you’ll sometimes have to do a little uphill golfing, sometimes some ravine golfing. Oftentimes you’ll be golfing against an unforgiving wind. This curious film, it turns out, is as much about the landscape and culture as it is about golf. Check it out!
