A note from independent filmmaker David Conover on why he chose this film:
One of Kyrgyzstan's most popular sports is a game called Kok-Boru, which is somewhat like a combination of basketball and polo. Aibek Adigineev is a fan—he explains this sport and its goal. Two horse-mounted teams compete to throw a goat carcass into a large hole in the ground. Before the match begins, there is a ceremony of blessings and prayers, and the goat is killed. The game attracts quite a following, but personally I wish they’d use a wet clump of turf instead of the poor goat.
