Conditions & Limitations
Certain exclusions and limitations apply and are detailed in the Certificate of Coverage which will be sent to you after you reserve your trip and is also available to you, upon request, at any time prior to your purchase of the plan by clicking here. For example, coverage does not apply to: any sickness or condition of you, a Traveling Companion or an Immediate Family Member traveling with you that existed during the 60 days prior to the effective date of the coverages (this exclusion is waived if you purchase coverage within 14 days of your initial deposit/payment for your trip and you are not disabled from travel when you make your plan payment), suicide, normal pregnancy, war or any act of war, mental or nervous disorders. You cannot purchase coverage more than 14 days after purchasing your own airline ticket OR after final payment for your reservation with us, whichever comes first. You cannot purchase coverage for flights scheduled to occur more than a combined total of 7 days before or after the Land Tour-only portion of your trip (Eg: A combination of flights six days before your Land Tour-only trip begins and two days after your Land Tour-only trip ends will not qualify for coverage). If you purchase Grand Circle’s international airfare and arrange third-party domestic airfare to your gateway city, you cannot extend your Travel Protection Plan coverage to that domestic flight.
Other Covered Events, as defined, includes the following events or their consequences: 1) Post-Departure Trip Interruption due to cancellation of arrangements by an airline, cruise line or tour operator due to strike, mechanical breakdown of the aircraft on which you are scheduled to travel or bad weather (Maximum of $150 per day/$750 total) or 2) cancellation or interruption of your trip due to: a documented traffic accident while en route to departure; jury duty; destruction of your residence by a natural disaster; or a documented theft of passports or visas. A Traveling Companion is defined as a person booked to share accommodations in the same room with you during your trip. Sickness or Injury must require care by a Physician and must commence while the Grand Circle Travel Protection Plan is in force for you. This plan does not cover a loss that results from an illness, disease, or other condition (of you, an Immediate Family Member, Traveling Companion or Business Partner), event or circumstance which occurs at a time when this plan is not in force for you.
Please note, the Grand Circle Pre-Departure Cancellation Waiver does not cover penalties associated with air or other travel arrangements not provided by Grand Circle unless third party air protection is purchased. Travel Vouchers are non-transferable and non-refundable, are valid for travel within 12 months of the date of issue, but no later than 15 months from the date your trip was cancelled.
The Cancel For Any Reason Waiver Benefit, Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption and Travel Delay are provided by Grand Circle/Overseas Adventure Travel (for New York Residents, all of these benefits except the Cancel For Any Reason Waiver Benefit are insurance benefits underwritten by Arch Insurance Company). All other benefits are underwritten by Arch Insurance Company. The Travel Protection Plan is administered by Trip Mate, Inc. (In California, Trip Mate Insurance Agency, Inc.). This is a brief description of the plan benefits and services and applies to all trip departures in 2010 and after.
