Enjoying "Peace of Mind" With Grand Circle
The traveling retirees
For the past three years, Peggy Fralinger—a five-time Group Leader from Hockessin, Delaware—has been planning trips for the Maris Grove Erickson Living community in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania. Prior to her position as the retirement center’s Trip Coordinator, Peggy worked at an assisted living community, where she helped plan five trips a year. “I did a lot of research on where people wanted to go and what they wanted to do. So when I saw the position at Erickson, I knew it was a great fit,” says Peggy.
With the help of the community’s Trip & Travel Club, Peggy provides residents of the Erickson community with the chance to explore the world. The club meets regularly to discuss new destinations to travel to. During one of these meetings in 2008, several club members that had traveled with Grand Circle in the past suggested taking a River Cruise. “Many of our residents had been on Grand Circle trips and loved them. After conducting a survey of places to go, we decided on our first River Cruise with Grand Circle: Old World Prague & the Blue Danube,” says Peggy. "We had such interest in the trip that we brought along a group of 44 travelers!"
Why Maris Grove loves Grand Circle River Cruises
Peggy explains that one of the great things about a River Cruise with Grand Circle is the freedom a traveler has to tailor the trip to his or her interests. “Grand Circle’s Program Directors do a great job at acclimating us to the area we are visiting when we first arrive,” says Peggy. “They are always forthcoming with directions on how to use public transportation, where to find places to exchange money, and instructions on great spots to visit. That way, when we want to go out for lunch or a walk on our own, we know where we are.”
Since their very first trip along the Danube, Peggy’s group has also traveled on Grand Circle’s Ancient Egypt & the Nile River and Great Rivers of Europe River Cruises. And in 2011, Peggy has already planned group trips on Grand Circle’s The Seine: Paris to Normandy River Cruise and America’s Majestic National Parks vacation.
“My favorite trip so far was our River Cruise along the Danube,” says Peggy. “It was amazing to visit former Communist countries that weren’t open to travelers in the past. Prague was a highlight, but the entire trip was impressive.” And although she has visited France in the past, Peggy is looking forward to seeing “Grand Circle’s Paris” during the group’s The Seine: Paris to Normandy River Cruise.
“The Grand Circle gang is phenomenal”
From the very first time Peggy called Grand Circle to inquire about their Danube River Cruise, she knew she was working with a different kind of company. “I first called Grand Circle right after an earthquake in China,” says Peggy. “After the representative I was speaking with explained that the team was currently making sure that all travelers, Program Directors, and staff in the region were safe, he assured me that they’d call me back to help me plan our trip. From that moment, I knew I’d be in good hands. This was a company that wanted to ensure the safety of its travelers and employees, first and foremost. And that gave me peace of mind.”
Peggy shares that she can always rely on Kathleen Lambert and the “Group Sales gang” to call her back when she has questions or concerns. “Katheen and the gang have been phenomenal. We can plan a trip to meet the needs of our group, rather than conform to a strict itinerary. Traveling with Grand Circle is the easiest thing under the sun.”
