After breakfast, ride to the airport to meet your flight to Iguassu after your Discover South America: Chile & Argentina Land Tour. Upon landing, transfer to the Brazilian side of Iguassu Falls, where you'll visit several platforms with fine views from different angles. You'll get close enough to the thundering torrents to feel the spray, and you may glimpse the park’s resident coatis (raccoon-like animals).

After an amazing afternoon at the falls, you’ll transfer to your hotel. Your evening is at leisure, and dinner is at your hotel.

After breakfast, visit the Argentinean falls during an included tour. A network of catwalks gives you the chance to take a closer look. Your most spectacular view may well be that of “Devil’s Throat,” an array of 14 cataracts rumbling and tumbling 350 feet straight down.

Later, join an optional Great Adventure tour. Start by entering the jungle from the Sendero Yacaratía Trail, which takes you to the Puerto Macuco Base, and the dock where the second part of this ride begins. You'll then travel by motorboat through the Canyon of the Iguassu River to the falls. Then sail to the San Martin waterfall—the largest and most impressive waterfall here.

Or, spend your afternoon as you wish amid the thundering majesty of Iguassu.

Tonight, enjoy dinner at your hotel.

This morning is at leisure. Perhaps you'll take a swim in the hotel's pool, or relax and enjoy the garden areas.

This afternoon, transfer to the airport and fly to Rio de Janeiro.

Explore Rio independently, and enjoy dinner on your own. Your Program Director can offer dining suggestions.

Today, enjoy an all-day tour of Rio de Janeiro, the landscape of which is a 2012 UNESCO World Heritage Site, with lunch included. Ascend the Christ the Redeemer Statue atop Corcovado Mountain for stunning views of the city. Let Rio’s energy sweep you away as you see the legendary beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema (where you’re certain to see more than one “tall and tan and young and lovely” girl). See the Sambadrome, where festive Carnival takes place. Lunch is at a typical Brazilian churrascaria, to enjoy the barbecue for which the region is known.

This evening is at leisure; dinner is on your own.

Today, conclude your tour of Rio with a cable car ride up Sugarloaf Mountain for panoramic views, and then enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

Or, join our optional Favela tour for a better understanding of Rio de Janeiro. Life in Rio is one of contrasts, and there are upper-class areas, such as Ipanema and Copacabana, right next to poor neighborhoods known as favelas. About 20 percent of Rio’s residents live in favelas. This is not just a chance to visit favelas—it is also a unique opportunity to learn valuable information that will deepen your understanding of the complexity of Brazilian society. During the tour, you will go to Vila Canoas and Rocinha, the largest favelas in Brazil. There you will visit a school, handcrafts center, and other parts of the community.

Tonight, gather with your companions and Program Director at the hotel for your Farewell Dinner to celebrate a spectacular South American odyssey.

    • Meals included:

You'll have your morning at leisure to experience the life of Rio; your Grand Circle Program Director can offer ideas for nearly every interest.

You could stroll the beachfronts of Ipanema and Copacabana, taking in views of the beautiful coast and people. Pretend you’re a carioca and sit at an outdoor cafe enjoying a caipirinha. Do some last-minute gift shopping: jewelry, beachware, coffee, and soccer items are the best buys here. Or just rest up by the hotel’s fabulous pool before your journey home.

After lunch on your own, you'll visit the Botanical Gardens to view the beautiful blooms and greenery. Home to more than 130,000 plants and trees, it’s regarded as one of the world’s finest gardens of its kind. You'll then transfer to the airport for your flight home.
