"Mireille was an excellent leader. She was bright, perky, witty, and fun. She was always available to talk or answer questions. She was so sparkling, a natural teacher, leader, and actress."

Get to know Mireille:
I was born in Antwerp, Belgium, to a Dutch father and Flemish mother. We moved from the city to the countryside when I was twelve years old, and I loved being outdoors, mountain biking in the woods, taking dancing lessons, and playing softball. Very soon my parents realized I was not very interested in having children or getting married—all I wanted to do was travel the world, ride motorbikes, and enjoy myself.
I worked first in South Africa, then in Asia, and I even lived in Florida for six months. I came to live in Honfleur because of my boyfriend, whom I met when I was working in Vietnam (he is half-Vietnamese, half-French). After a year of corresponding and spending time together, I decided to join him in France. I managed an art gallery in Honfleur for four years, but always wanted to go back to being a guide because I like to be on the road (or water) and meet people. That’s why I started working as a Program Director for Grand Circle.
I have a real passion for history, and love working for Grand Circle because I learn new things on every trip. I also have a passion for ships, especially the sense of freedom they give you. I am proud of the culture and history of France—all the amazing historical monuments we have, and the way we act (and react) because of our past—and this is what I love to talk to our travelers about.
