On the Cantada (sp?) F deck of the River Melody, can you hear engine noise from the stateroom? It's near the front of the boat. thanks.

The engines are in the aft (back) of the boat. What is in the bow  (front) of the ship are the bow thrusters. These are used when maneuvering, entering and leaving docks and negotiating locks. There will probably be noise F cabins, but, wheter it bothers you depends largely on the intinerary, how many locks, and what time you will be passing through them and what time you will be docking and undocking. If you are not in the cabin during those times, it does not matter. The cruise that it most affects is the Great Rivers of Europe, where you may negotiate many locks on the Main-Danube canal at night.

thanks so much. Don't think it will be a problem for us. When we cruised with Uniworld last year we heard the ship maneuver the locks and no big deal.
