Hello Everybody -

We continue to monitor the recent high water levels in Central Europe along the Danube, and Elbe rivers—including the impact they are having on this region and the Grand Circle vacations scheduled to depart in the coming weeks. Water levels continue to fall. Please be assured that our Boston headquarters is in constant communication with our regional offices in Central Europe, keeping your comfort and safety at the forefront.

The June & July European River Cruise departures scheduled to operate include:

  • The Great Rivers of Europe: 7/3, 7/6, 7/18, 7/20 & 7/23 departures
  • Eastern Europe to the Black Sea: 7/18 and 7/27 departures
  • Essence of the Elbe: Berlin to Prague: 6/29, 7/6, 7/13, 7/20 & 7/27 departures
  • Old World Prague & the Blue Danube: 7/5, 7/6, 7/11 departures

We will make decisions on upcoming departures based on the latest information we receive from our regional offices. At present, we plan to operate all European River Cruises, but please note that this is subject to change based on developments in this region.
We are continuing to update our website regularly—please check back here for the latest information, and contact our World Events Line by calling us toll-free at 1-800-866-6568 if you have immediate questions about your departure.

Though it is good to know that the river levels are decreasing, your updates don't address the damage that the overflowing Danube River did to the shore land portions of the "Old World Prague and the Blue Danube" cruise. I am hoping that your newest updates will include what the travelers encountered when they disembarked at each port. Here in the USA we have experienced flooding and we know the devastation that occurs takes a very long time to rebuild. What will see as we travel the river? This is a once in a lifetime trip and we are concerned that we have heard nothing about the conditions caused by the flooding river. Our trip leaves on 8/7/13 and we are hoping that someone who has seen the conditions will write to the travel forum with their observations and recommendations about what conditions exist.

Thank you, Regina Cicchetti

Hello Sezgenie -

Thank you for posting.

I know you spoke with Bojan in our Quality Department about your upcoming trip - we expect that your departure will operate as advertised.

You may want start new thread asking about what it's like in Europe right now.  Some of your fellow travelers who were just there could weigh in with their experiences.

Kind Regards,

Michelle

Hello Sezgenie -

Please click on "Europe" under the "Destinations" area.  Scroll to the bottom of the page - there will be a red button called "Post A New Topic".  Once you click on the button, you will be prompted to create a new topic.

I saw that you posted your question under our Trip Evaluations thread. I moved it to the "Europe" section and created a topic called "Questions about the Old World Prague River Cruise".  Hopefully, your fellow travelers will weigh in with some good information for you.

Kind Regards,

Michelle

I suspect that Google searches could provide a lot of worthwhile information.
