We have a group taking the post trip to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and the optional tour to Chobe Park in Botswana.  The information we recieved from GCT gives the option of getting the required visas in advance or get them onsite.  On other GCT and OAT trips we have had no problem getting visas onsite.  Anyone have recent experience getting the doulbe entry visa for Zimbabwe oniste?

We took the post trip to Victoria Falls in August, 2012 and got our visas at the airport.  We got the double entry visa since we were going to do the Chobe optional.  There was no problem getting the visas at the airport other than our line (getting visas) took about 15 minutes longer than the line for those that purchased their visas ahead of time.

We are also on the post trip in June and I thought we would get the Visa onsite.  Is it less expensive to get the Visa onsite rather than ahead of time?  when we went to Egypt we got the Visa onsite and it was a lot less money.  Just wondering if it is the same in Botswana.

If you get your visas though PVS that OAT uses, it costs $30 per visa in service charges. I believe that this is a discount from the normat fee of $50 per visa. In addition thare is a $25 fee for shipping.

We would advise getting your visa in advance.  When we took the UA trip in 2009, the line for getting visas at Victoria Falls was so long we'd still be waiting on it.  Fortunately everyone in our group had their visa in advance so we were long gone before the first person on line for those with no visas was processed.

If you're going in a group, which you likely will be if this is an extension, you will not endear yourself to your fellow travelers if you hold them up because you didn't get your visa in advance.  Our advice:  Be a good citizen and get your visa in advance and don't take a chance that you'll be the cause of making your group wait for you.  If you don't want to pay the fee for PVS, which nanaandpapa have indicated, you can go directly to the consulate yourself, either by mail or in person.
