We are leaving for Russia on Sept. 6th.  Would like some feed back on Peterhof. Was it worth the money and should we not miss it. The traveler reviews seem to say both yes and no. Appreciate any info.

The grounds and fountains at Versailles pale by comparison to Peterhof. It is a must see.

We have been to both and totally agree.  Our August 6th visit to Peterhof was one of many highlights of this trip.  The fountains were breathtaking.  The weather was perfect. We walked the grounds with our group and wonderful guide, Marina.  Well worth the Optional Tour $.  A picture taken by one of our group will be on our annual Christmas card.  Dont miss it.

Agreeing with last two posters. Don't miss Peterhof. Fascinating. Beautiful. The grounds and all of the many, many beautiful and unique fountains. I was there last October, and the leaves were changing colors--so pretty! Peterhof was one of the highlights of the trip!!

Yes, yes, yes!  You must see it!  I liked it much better than Versailles.

My husband and I are about to take the Russia Revealed Cruise with a  pre-trip to Kiev.  We have received some information from our PD Alex.  We're excited to meet him/her.  Has anyone travelled with Alex?  ( Based on our e-mail from him, his last name may be Kuzmin.)  Can you tell me some of your experiences?

To CAC, who asked about experiences with the PD, Alex, on their upcoming Russia Revealed trip.

We traveled on the Russia Revealed tour in 2010 with Alex Didkovsky as the PD for our group.  I think you will enjoy him.

Alex comes across as a highly educated, intelligent (almost geekish), articulate PD.  Compared to the other PDs, he was less outgoing.  His home was originally in Moscow and told of the interesting experiences of him and his parents under Communist rule.  During the off season, he worked for the Russian space agency.  I am unsure, but I seem to recall that he may have done some computer-related work with the space program.  At the time, Alex was engaged to a musician who I believe played a stringed instrument.

Alex was highly organized, knowledgeable, responsive to the needs of our group, and flexible when unforseen circumstances prompted a need for change.  As mentioned earlier, I believe you will enjoy him as you will Misha, Dasha, Asia, another Misha, and Elena, if they too are on your cruise.

I also traveled with Alex on the Russia Revealed trip with a pre-trip extension in Kiev.  Because of the smog, bog fires, and high temperatures, enough people canceled so that there were only five groups.  I believe he may have lived in Kiev at one time.  He was knowledgeable about everything we saw.  And had a great sense of humor.

ATMs are plentiful and easy to use. It will process the transaction in English if you specify it.

There are ATMs in the airport terminals, and your PD will help you navigate them.  That's for when you first arrive.  There are also ATMs in some restaurants and on the streets.

To CAC:  Saw your post.  Although we don't have the same PD (ours is Elena who has been in touch with us), I hope we can meet you in Kiev.  Elena told us the temp. is pretty warm in Kiev, so I'm changing my packing a litttle.  Humidity will also be up.  We're looking forward to this wonderful trip.  Perhaps we'll even see you at Logan!!
