Have booked this trip and traveling as a solo.  Anyone else going then, too?

We are traveling on the February 7 trip and have included the post trip.  Anyone else planning on that??  After looking at the air itinerary today, we are wondering if it is worth 1K!!  3 hours in Brazil and 3 hours at the falls plus hotel time and flight time---hmmm--maybe an independent trip to another spot?  Any suggestions from someone who has been there in 2012??  Thanks!

I can't comment on the flight times, etc. as a post trip from Antarctica but I did visit the falls as a side trip from a visit I made to Rio---Of all the waterfalls I have visited, including Victoria Falls, I rate this one as number one bar none---it is simply awsome...I was glad I made the trip and you have to see them from both sides to get the real majesty of it all...I don't know of anything else in Brazil that would match it unless you might consider the Amazon...I would have to think long and hard to visit Victoria Falls again but I would go back here in a heartbeat...That is just my opinion but others may differ with my assessment!

When did GCT start having trips to Antarctica?  You'd get better results if you posted on the OAT forum.

The trip to Antarctica is now listed under GCT but most posts are indeed found in the OAT forums.

I will be on the 3 Feb 2013 trip.  I really do need info as to whether I should take SKI pants - or just waterproof pants to go over other pants.  I really don't want to buy ski pants if not necessary.  I already have a (very) light-weight pants/jacket wind breaker type outfit.  Would appreciate some advice.  Thanks

I am thinking of taking ski pants because I have them but wondering if I should buy other waterproof pants instead.  Such decisions!!!  Are you traveling as a solo?  I am and hoping there will be some other solos on the trip.

Just paid the Argintine  fee for a visa; steep, but good for ten years. How long is the Brasil visa good for? (Passports are not back yet.)

It may be a matter of semantics, but the the Argentina charge is not a "Visa." It's a reciprocity fee --whatever is charged to Argentinians when they arrive in the U.S. It's increased since I was there a couple of years ago. Too bad you can't get in on arrival anymore, it was quick and easy. I hope all travelers know they need to get it online now.

Have a great trip. Antarctica should be a wonderful experience.
