We were on the River Aria and it had dining tables with legs near the edges of the table and I don't know how many times we and other passengers hit those legs when scooting our chairs in!!! Not only does it hurt but usually drinks are spilled. They should use only tables with pedestals  to avoid this problem.

albertwong...table legs...

I checked all my tables at home & all legs are at the ends, no pedestals here.  We eat out, alot, at many restaurants (because I hate to cook & it shows!) and all the table legs are at the ends with the exception of one italian restaurant which has SOME pedestal tables.  Personally, I think the 4 legs are sturdier.  I have an issue when tables are pushed together for large groups and two legs are next to each other.  It makes for awkward sitting & your issue with the knocked knees.  If you and I are ever on the same trip at the same table, you won't have to worry about your seat as I ALWAYS SEEM TO BE THE ONE who gets this special place.  Other than being careful & peeking under the tablecloth for leg position, I'm afraid knees will be knocked & bruised.
