We're hoping to pack less by using a laundry service on our December "Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast" trip.Usually hotel laundry service is very expensive and other laundry service operated by locals might be nearby as we discovered on our Egypt trip (laundry/dry cleaning sevice right around the corner from the Marriott was great and very reasonable!). We're hoping that someone has a suggestion for a laundry in Chianciano or Sorrento.  Thanks.

It's been several years since I took this trip.  However, one man in our group made a point of scoping out all the nearby laundromats in both Sorrento and Montecatini (which is where we stayed).  I do remember one quite nearby in Sorrento on the road you have to take in and out.  He was completely satisfied with the quality of work and the service.

I always handwash my underwear and hope for the best with my other clothes.  I do travel with Oxi-Clean wipes that you can buy in any CVS or Walgreen's.  That takes care of the inevitable spots and stains.

We have found that Lonely Planet guide books are good for laundry locations in major cities. Get a copy in your local library and see if it has any listed for these cities.

For one in Sorrento, see tripadvisor at http://www.tripadvisor.c...t-Sorrento_Campania.html

I tried to paste a page from the journal of our 2007 trip but the forum has some hang-up about pasting something copied from Word. So I will say we used a laundramat in Sorrento that was located near the train station. Small washers were 4 Euro, larger washers were 6 Euro, and dryers were 4 Euro. They worked very well. A supply vending machine was available as was a machine that accepted various sizes of Euro bills and returned to you 1 Euro coins suitable for use in the washers and dryers.
