We leave 4/13 for the "Cultural Centers of China" outing and the power issue has me confused.  I have a international power adapter I've used before, but can't figure out which adapter plug will work in Shanghai, XIan and Beijing.  Any one been there before??  Is it the Australia/Hong Kong plug?  Any help appreciated!!

I hope someone who has gone on the same tour and stayed at the same hotel can post a response to your question. But before that happens, here is what my husband offers because he used to travel to China on company business.

See the plug pictures in http://traveloasis.com/china-plug-adapters.html from Travel Oasis? my husband said that the first three (WA-7, WA-16, and #2) are commonly seen in hotels in China, with the #2 as the most popular. Some hotels may accomodate additional adapter types because they want to accomodate travelers from Hong Kong.

As my husband and I recall, each of the hotels had a standard US (110v, 60 Hz) socket for low amp devices such as an electric razor or camera battery chager.
