Grand Circle Corporation Wins Two South African Tourism Awards

Awards coincide with launch of new regional product

BOSTON, MA—(May 1, 2013)—Vince Cook, CEO of Grand Circle Corporation, the leader in adventure, travel and discovery for Americans aged 50 and older, is pleased to announce that the company has won two Ubuntu awards from the South African Tourism Board. The awards were presented at the South African Tourism Board’s 4th Annual Ubuntu Awards Gala, which was held earlier this month at the New York Public Library in New York City.

“We are grateful to the South African Tourism Board both for the awards and for their partnership as we work to bring more Americans to South Africa,” said Cook. “These awards coincide with the launch of our new southern Africa adventure, which includes South Africa and begins operating this fall.”

Grand Circle Corporation is comprised of three travel companies, two of which visit South Africa and received Ubuntu awards. Both Overseas Adventure Travel (OAT) and Grand Circle Travel (GCT) won an award for “Top Producing Tour Operator”, while Grand Circle Travel won a second award for “Best Value for the Money Packages.”

Last year, 2,440 people traveled to South Africa with Grand Circle—either on GCT’s 19-day “Highlights of South Africa” vacation, which begins at just $132 per day, or on one of GCT or OAT’s optional pre-and-post trip extensions to South Africa. The company expects 2,800 travelers in 2013 and 4,100 in 2014 with the addition of OAT’s new 17-day “Southern Africa: South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia & Botswana” adventure.
