Yes. When you travel with someone congenial, you can look at a sight and turn to them and say "isn't that wonderful?" When I travel solo, I turn to perfect strangers and say "isn't that wonderful?"
I traveled for years with someone I was introduced to by mutual friends who thought we'd get along well. And we did and traveled together for - not even ten years, but several times a year, and visited back and forth. We did eight trips with GCT, three with other companies, and went to Australia and New Zealand four times on our own.
She's gone now and I don't want to be matched to eliminate the single supplement. I've seen some really terrible results. I have the same reaction that woman had. At the end of the day, I want to go to my own room/cabin and close the door.
