I agree with the responses. Yes, the elevator is dark and a little slow, but there are only a few people in the car, so it shouldn't be too bad; goes pretty quick. My husband gets claustrophobic, too, in large stores, hard to breathe; he has been practicing enduring till we can check out, rather than hurrying me and not getting shopping done. He didn't feel so bad in the descent--with enough people to chat with, make men comments, etc., he didn't have time to think of his situation.
The different rooms with various carvings, and the story behind the mines, is fascinating. You will see post cards of the salt mines chapel. It looks like a cathedral. But, wait till you get there--it is beautiful, even if you are not Christian, it is a wonder to see, and the story is quite interesting Don't miss this wonder. And enjoy
