We can't recall the exact time that it took to get to the Ulster Park but it seemed to be within an hour's drive of Londonderry. We left after lunch and were back in time for supper. We were at the Park for less than 2 hours as we recall...not enough time to see all of the wonderful buildings and exhibits there. It would remind you of a restored park in the States like Greenfield Village or Sturbridge Village. There is a replica of a ship that brought immigrants to the States and it was a very interesting experience to go on it and "relive" the journey. We had an introduction to the park by someone who worked there and then we were on our own to explore. Some people chose to stay in the exhibit area and not walk around the park but there were many nice things to see...farm buildings, homes, a school, gardens, etc. Of course, there was a lovely gift shop in the exhibit building :). You can always ask your PD about this optional trip and then make your decision. If you stay in Londonderry for the afternoon, you will find things to do there. It is a very walkable town and we enjoyed walking along the city walls and eating in some of the small shops. We were there on a Sunday and many were closed but they looked very interesting. Our trip to Ireland, including the pre and post is one of our favorite GCT/OAT trips. You will have a wonderful time!
