Since I have a deep appreciation for art, I always try to visit museums during my travels. There’s something incredibly meaningful standing before a piece of art in one of the Old World cities, viewing a masterpiece in the place it was created centuries before. It’s as if I’ve stepped back in time.
Many Grand Circle travelers explain that they enjoy doing the same—and two of the destinations I hear about time and again are Madrid and Lisbon for their celebration of art history. Home to fascinating museums like Prado Museum, with a magnificent collection from Velazquez, Goya, and El Greco, or the Royal Coach Museum, which holds a spectacular array of gilded and carved coaches, there are artistic wonders to be found no matter what genre you enjoy most.
These travelers also share that Spain and Portugal’s art treasures aren’t the only things they’ve loved about their journeys to these two countries. Here, Esther & Al B. and Mei-Ching & Vincent T. share other highlights from their visits to Spain and Portugal …
Our Classic Costa del Sol trip was marvelous! And how wonderful to have the Dine-Around coupons for lunch and/or dinner. They were perfect! Our apartment accommodations were comfortable—and it was very nice to not have to unpack every few days. Our Program Director Valle Lopez was superb, and the Grand Circle Hospitality Desk staff at the Bajondillo were wonderful.

We went on Grand Circle’s Spain & Portugal in Depth tour during last December, and had a blast! We posted our trip stories and photos on our family website, but wanted to share a few of our favorite images here. We hope you enjoy viewing them as much as we enjoyed taking them!
