One Year, More Than $1 Million in Donations
Mother Teresa said, “We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.” I think it’s a beautiful statement about the collective power of a group of committed people—and as 2011 came to an end, I was reminded of this quote when I learned that Grand Circle Foundation reached the milestone of $1 million in donations. In fact, the grand total was $1.1 million—which is nothing short of astounding.
My first thought was, “Wow. It’s amazing what a group of compassionate people can do.” So many of you care about people in the world who have less—and more than 13,000 of you were moved to donate to a project supported by the Foundation. No matter how small or how large your contribution, the important thing is that you chose to get in the game, to do something. We’re all in this together—and there are so many of us who want to help lighten the load, to level the playing field. Just think of the difference $1 million can make.
To all of you who made donations—this year and every year—thank you, from the bottom of my heart. This has been a dream come true for Alan and me … and we’re known for dreaming big.
