Customize your trip

With our True Choice Program, you can choose to stay longer before or after your trip on your own, or combine two vacations to maximize your value. Here are more ways to create the Grand Circle vacation that’s right for you:

  • Choose our standard air routing, or work with us to select the airline and routing you prefer
  • Make your own international flight arrangements directly with the airline, applying frequent flyer miles if available
  • Stay overnight in a connecting city before or after your trip
  • Request to arrive a few days early to get a fresh start on your vacation
  • Choose to “break away” before or after your trip, spending additional days or weeks on your own
  • Extend your vacation with our optional pre- and post-trip extensions
  • Combine your choice of Grand Circle vacations to maximize your value
  • Upgrade to business or premium economy class

The air options listed above will involve an additional fee of $100 per person for confirmed requests (as well as incremental airfare costs based on your specific choice). This service fee will be waived for Inner Circle/Sir Edmund Hillary Club members.

  • Exclusive services of a Grand Circle Program Director
  • All transfers
Day 1
Depart U.S.

Depart the U.S. today on your flight to Berlin. Please refer to your individual air itinerary for exact departure and arrival times.

Day 2
Arrive in Berlin, Germany

Arrive today in Berlin, where a Grand Circle representative will meet you at the airport and assist with the transfer to your hotel. The rest of your day is free.

This evening, gather with your fellow travelers for a Welcome Drink and briefing before enjoying dinner on your own.

Day 3
Berlin/City tour

After breakfast, explore Berlin with your Program Director using your included Hop On/Hop Off Bus Pass. The city's history is represented in the remains of the original Berlin Wall, built by the Soviets in 1961 and torn down by people power in 1989—signifying the reunification of Germany and the end of the Cold War.

The rest of the day is free for your own discoveries. Use your one-day bus pass to hop on and off the bus as often as you want. Perhaps you’ll choose to view the famous “Checkpoint Charlie,” the point where travel between East and West was monitored during the Cold War. The familiar guard tower has been rebuilt, and you can visit the museum that chronicles methods used to prevent people fleeing from East Berlin.

Or travel along Unter den Linden, a magnificent boulevard in the historic center of the city—passing by the Museum of German History, Prussian Parliament buildings, Humboldt University, German State Opera, Berlin Cathedral, Crown Princes and Princesses Palace, and St. Hedwig’s Cathedral with its famous dome. You’ll see many of Berlin’s older buildings and churches as you pass through the area that surrounded the original city.

Day 4
Berlin

After breakfast, your day is free for your own explorations. Perhaps no city is more central to the history of post-World War II Europe, the Cold War, and the recent reunification of Germany. Berlin, surrounded by what was communist-controlled East Germany, was itself divided into Eastern and Western sectors—the East was once unthinkable for Americans to visit, but now the entire city is completely open for visitors.

Day 5
Berlin/Join main tour

Your morning is at leisure for your own explorations in Berlin.

This afternoon, you’ll join your fellow travelers as they arrive in Berlin for your Best of Eastern Europe Escorted Tour.
