Day 1
Oslo, Norway

After breakfast, explore Oslo during an included orientation walk with your Program Director. Here is a world capital with nature at its very doorstep—fields, forests, fjords, farms, mountains, and meadows are all contained within the city limits. But it is also a city of great architecture, sweeping boulevards, and imposing buildings, as you'll see this morning.

The balance of the day is yours to discover more of Oslo at your own pace. Your included Oslo Pass gives you free entrance to more than 30 museums, free public transportation within the city center, and much more.

Day 2
Oslo

With suggestions from your Program Director—and using your included Oslo Pass—spend the day absorbing Oslo's sights on your own. Perhaps you'll visit the newly developed Aker Brygge Festival Market Mall, a glass-and-steel assemblage of markets, cafes, and shops along the harbor. Oslo also has museums for virtually any interest. Your included Oslo Pass gives you free entrance to many of them, as well as free public transportation in the city center. Trace the life and work of Norway's foremost artist at the Edvard Munch Museum, whose collection includes Munch's best-known painting, The Scream. And at the Henie-Onstad Kunstsenter, located near the Oslofjord, you'll find a robust collection of modern art, including hundreds of paintings by Olympic figure skater Sonja Henie, whose medals and trophies are also on display.

You might also consider strolling through beautiful Frogner Park, where can wander among the bronze and granite statues of acclaimed sculptor Gustav Vigeland. Or visit Akershus Castle, a medieval fortress that houses the Norwegian Resistance Museum, which documents efforts to overthrow the Nazis, who occupied Norway during World War II. You can also view the Royal Palace, constructed between 1825 and 1848 and the official residence of Norway's royal family, and Oslo's Town Hall, where the Nobel Peace Prize is presented every tenth of December.

Day 3
Oslo

Continue making your own discoveries today with the benefit of your included Oslo Pass.

You might add to your insights into Norway’s maritime heritage by traveling to the Bygdoy Peninsula to visit the Kon Tiki Museum. See the famous balsa raft Kon Tiki, from 1947, and the papyrus boat RAII, built in 1970, both from Thor Heyerdahl's expeditions. Examine the various exhibits detailing Heyerdahl's findings in Peru and Polynesia. Perhaps you'll visit the nearby Fram Museum, as well, and explore the Fram, the Colin Archer-designed exploration vessel used by Fridtjof Nansen, Otto Sverdrup, and Roald Amundsen in their Arctic and Antarctic explorations.

A short walk away, you'll find the Viking Ship Museum, which offers insight into more of Norway's proud traditions as a seafaring nation of intrepid explorers. The museum's impressive holdings include small boats and carved sledges, as well as wagons, textiles, harnesses, tools, and kitchen utensils—all found on sunken or buried ships around the Oslofjord. Perhaps even more intriguing are three Viking longboats dating back to AD 800.

Day 4
Oslo/Return to U.S.

After breakfast, you'll transfer to the airport for your flight home.
