Optional Tour

Discover the Howth Peninsula ($110 per person)

Day 1
Dublin, Ireland

After breakfast, set off with your Hospitality Desk representative on an included walking tour to Dublin Castle and City Hall. The afternoon is yours for discovery. Perhaps you’ll stroll along the narrow cobblestone streets of Temple Bar, the area between the Bank of Ireland and Christ Church Cathedral. You might also ride the Coastal Train and visit the coastal villages of Dublin, or simply chat with locals while enjoying a pint at one of Dublin’s countless pubs (all of which are smoke-free).

Day 2
Dublin/Optional Discover the Howth Peninsula tour

Join your Hospitality Desk representative this morning for an included discovery walk of Stephen’s Green, a 22-acre public park designed in the Georgian era. Its history is as rich as its landscaping. Among many points of interest, a memorial garden to W. B. Yeats features a Henry Moore sculpture. Then spend the day exploring Dublin on your own. Perhaps you'll use your included Hop On/Hop Off Bus Pass to visit the Dublin Writers Museum, which has many first editions, letters, and personal notes by writers from Swift to Beckett.

Or, join an optional tour and discover the magnificent coastal scenery of the Howth Peninsula, located on the north side of Dublin Bay. Along the way you'll visit Casino Marino—not a gambling destination, but a pleasure home—a highly accomplished example of neoclassical design. You'll also stop to take photos at historic Malahide Castle, which dates back to 1185. When you arrive in the picturesque fishing village of Howth, you’ll enjoy an early three-course dinner with a glass of wine in a local Howth pub, The Abbey Tavern, before returning to your hotel in the evening.

Day 3
Dublin/St Patrick's Cathedral

After breakfast, you'll discover the area around St. Patrick's Cathedral—and tour this Dublin landmark—during an included walk with your Hospitality Desk representative. Spend another day exploring Dublin on your own with your Hop On/Hop Off Bus Pass. You might consider visiting the National Library of Ireland, whose collection includes manuscripts spanning a thousand years. The library regularly exhibits selections from its archive of historic and modern Irish photographs, prints, and drawings. Or you could follow the enlightening route walked by Leopold Bloom in Joyce’s Ulysses, including Eccles Street and Bachelor’s Walk.

Day 4
Dublin/Return to U.S.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight home.
