In Australia the seasons are reversed from the Northern Hemisphere: The summer months are December/February; autumn is March/May; winter June/August; and spring September/November. The summer is rainy season in the tropical north. Australia's temperatures are relatively warm the majority of the time, and most plants keep their foliage all year. In summer, it can get very hot, with temperatures reaching above the 100 degrees F mark in some areas—such as Alice Springs, which has a desert climate.
