You'll have jet lag, so get up early and go to the nearest park, say around 6 A.M. It is wonderful to watch the Chinese exercise and you can even participate in tai chi. You'll see fan dancers who are actually practicing a martial art and other interesting forms. If you go to Tian an men Square early in the A.M., you'll find the kite masters which are amazing. Also walk through the hutongs- old neighborhoods if they are still there. Very interesting.
