One of the things I love most about Grand Circle travelers is that they’re never short on suggestions: Our travelers are always sharing ideas for new vacations and River Cruises they’d like to see offered—like Jan G., who finds her husband and herself running out of River Cruises to embark upon. Here, she offers her own thoughts on how this might be remedied …
My husband, Dick, and I have taken six River Cruises with Grand Circle. We are beginning to run out of rivers, with the exception of Egypt and China!
My husband has a great suggestion: We have taken four River Cruises with you, that—if put together—would cover the Black Sea to the Netherlands. Why not create different stops along these River Cruises for those of us who would enjoy taking them again, but would like to see new villages and cities?
For seniors, your River Cruises offer the best kinds of vacations, and this would give us a reason to cover the same river, but see different sights.

Jan, thanks so much for your suggestion. There are many factors that go into creating a new Grand Circle River Cruise, River CruiseTour, or Land Vacation—and our travelers’ ideas are our main motivation for creating new trips. Another important part of this decision process is ensuring that we have the people power we need in the regions we are thinking about creating a new trip.
For this reason, we rely on the knowledge and expertise of our regional office staff—dedicated professionals who live, work, and play in the countries you’ll visit. And our executives and worldwide offices work together to ensure the best possible itinerary and value for our travelers in these new areas of the world.
I’m excited to share that we’re now offering a new vacation for 2011: Grand Circle’s Essence of the Elbe: Hamburg to Prague River CruiseTour—which will also feature our newest European River Ship, the M/S River Allegro, which is currently undergoing a $3 million refurbishment to meet our high standards for traveler comfort.
Our regional staff has worked tirelessly to create a discovery-filled itinerary for this trip—including visits to Hamburg, Schwerin, Tangermunde, Berlin, Wittenberg, Meissen, Dresden, and Swiss Saxony in Germany, and Prague in the Czech Republic—and are especially excited to embark on this new trip with our travelers. I hope you and Dick will consider joining us on the Elbe too, Jan!
And when our travelers aren’t offering their itinerary ideas, they’re sharing their favorite experiences on their trips with us—and I hear time and again how much travelers enjoy their time on our River Cruises along the Rhine, Main, and Danube rivers. Here, Edith S. raves about her recent Eastern Europe & the Black Sea River Cruise, Gail B. describes why she enjoyed her Old World Prague & the Blue Danube River Cruise so much, and Sandra H. explains why she found her Great Rivers of Europe River Cruise—as a single woman—so interesting …
We had the absolutely best time on our Eastern Europe & the Black Sea trip. Grand Circle exceeded all of our expectations—as did the people of the Balkans. Thank you for memories of a lifetime. We look forward to traveling with you again (and again, and again)!

My husband, Bob, and I were thrilled with our River Cruise on the Danube. We met such wonderful people. The crew and Program Directors were so friendly and helpful. We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary while on the cruise. This was our second River Cruise, and hopefully not our last.

Traveling as a single senior lady, I found my Great Rivers of Europe River Cruise safe and interesting. Our Program Director, Alex Klugler, was exceptional, and fellow travelers were friendly and fun. Nearly all the ports were within walking distance to the beautiful towns. Every person on the crew did their best to ensure a wonderful trip for all travelers. You can’t go wrong taking this cruise.
