I recently sent an email to Grand Circle travelers to celebrate the arrival of spring—and I included this lovely photo of blooming tulips taken by three-time travelers Vicky and Solomon Gelfond, of Mundelein, Illinois, during their visit to Holland’s famed Keukenhof Gardens.
So many of you wrote in to tell me how much you enjoyed this beautiful image, I wanted to share your thoughts about these vibrant flowers …
I have been to the Netherlands at tulip time. We had sleet, but saw acres and acres of white, purple, and pink-colored fields awaiting harvest for forage. The ship was like our private yacht! The passage to the unique dykes and the dredging of more land on the Zuiderzee were memorable, as were the museums, which saturated us with ancient masterpieces was as well.
This was one of my favorite trips, and I have traveled rather extensively in my 81 years. Traveling around the world in the Southern Hemisphere in 33 days was the only one to surpass it!

The picture you sent brings back beautiful memories of our visit to Holland a few years ago. It is just as breathtaking now as it was then. I recommend this trip to everyone. In one week, we look forward to spring in Paris ... another breathtaking wonder, I am sure!

There are so many historic treasures to uncover when sailing along the Rhine, Main, and Danube rivers—from the Dom, Cologne’s magnificent Gothic cathedral, to the inscriptions left at Heidelberg’s Student Prison, to the massive Residenz, the last and finest in a line of baroque palaces built in Bavaria.
But some of my favorite memories of my travels throughout Europe are the amazingly picturesque landscapes I discover each time I visit. And I’m not the only one who thinks so: Here, Christina & Ronald B., Jan & Noel S., and Millie & Francis C. share their favorite snapshots from their Great Rivers of Europe trips …
Here are a few pictures taken on our Great Rivers of Europe River Cruise on the M/S River Aria:

On the old bridge overlooking the Main River with Fortress Marienberg in the background in Würzburg, Germany.
Chris B. admires Rita Schneider’s dessert during their home-hosted Kaffeeklatsch in Beilngries, Germany.

My husband and I took our first trip with Grand Circle on The Great Rivers of Europe. We can’t wait to plan our next River Cruise! We met some wonderful people on the trip and they suggested I send a couple of my favorite pictures to you from our time on the M/S River Melody:
