So, I’m excited when I receive emails from Grand Circle travelers about the enthusiastic people they’ve met on their journeys with us to this fascinating country. Here, Carol D. shares why her Program Director made her trip to Sicily come alive for her, and Barbara L. and Joanne G. share what they loved most about their trips to Sicily and the Amalfi Coast …
Here are some photos from my recent Sicily trip. We were lucky enough to have Gaetano Salemi as our Program Director. The pictures show our Home-Hosted Lunch with Mima and Carmelo. There’s also a great photo of Gaetano on the bus with a map of Sicily behind him.
The whole trip was a total joy. We were in Sicily three years ago with another company and chose Grand Circle for this trip because of its flexible itinerary and optional excursions. What really made this trip was the fantastic job our Program Director did: He literally brought Sicily alive in a way we had not seen in years before. His expertise in literature, history, language, and his passion for his homeland made the trip feel like we were invited into someone’s home and they were sharing their family’s stories with us. Words cannot explain our experience, but, just as Gaetano asked us to do, we left Sicily “keeping a very special place in our hearts for the land, and a very special spot in our hearts for him.” He is part of our Italian famiglia. Thanks for a great trip. We are looking forward to traveling with Grand Circle again.

My first trip with Grand Circle was to the Amalfi Coast and Tuscany. I don’t think I could have had a better vacation. Our Program Director was the best and all of the locations we visited were fantastic. A friend and I also traveled on Grand Circle’s Cruising Burgundy & Provence to the Cote d’Azur River Cruise since that initial vacation. I’m looking forward to planning my next trip with your sister company, OAT!
