Bratislava’s worldwide associates welcome 110 kindergarteners aboard

This past November, one of our Grand Circle River Cruise ships—the M/S River Adagio—welcomed 110 kindergarten children from three local schools supported by Grand Circle Foundation, and set sail along the legendary Danube River around Bratislava, Slovakia. The region’s second community service event of this kind, it wouldn’t have been possible without the extraordinary help of the entire River Adagio crew, including Captain Pavol Buzgovic, Bratislava’s worldwide associates, and the hospitality staff.
The schoolchildren were given the opportunity to tour the M/S River Adagio, which included a visit to the wheelhouse.
The children arrived aboard in the morning, where they enjoyed a small snack. Then the festivities began! The kindergartners were given a tour of the ship, where they explored all of the inner workings of the River Adagio, and participated in activities like face-painting, crafting paper sailors’ hats, and a pasta tournament, where they played games using various types of pasta. One of the most popular activities was a visit to the wheelhouse, where Captain Buzgovic showed the children the control instruments he uses to navigate the ship. The kids were amazed, and continuously asked, “Where’s the wheel?”
The kindergarten children participated in many activities, including face-painting.
After the fun of the activities, they had a great lunch served aboard the ship. Upon arrival back at the port, the kids were given gift bags with small trinkets like coloring books and hats. There’s nothing quite like seeing the smiles on each of the children’s faces. It was an unforgettable experience for them—and the children truly enjoy sailing.
