A place to call home
When Alan and I founded Grand Circle Foundation in 1992, we had two goals in mind: to give back to the world we travel and to make a difference in the lives of those closer to home.
Last month, we did just that by helping a young mother and her three-month-old daughter move from a homeless shelter into a new apartment. As part of Grand Circle Foundation’s partnership with the Boston Family Shelter (BFS), the move was possible thanks to Up & Out—a community service program started by one of our own Grand Circle associates, Chris Penn (Read more about Chris and his role in Up & Out’s inception in our News & Views section).
For the recently homeless, finding an apartment is the first step on the long and costly path to independence—and that’s where Grand Circle Foundation’s Up & Out program comes in.
In this video, you’ll see our dedicated associates, led by Grand Circle’s Joelle Davis and Lisa Migliaccio, hard at work at the new apartment: cleaning, furnishing, and stocking everything (including the pantry!):
This event marked Up & Out’s 25th move. I’m so happy and proud to support a program that has truly captured Grand Circle Foundation’s vision—and one that not only gives back to the destinations we travel, but to our own neighborhoods. I look forward to many more moves to come …
